Your weekend health tip

Right now, as you are reading this entry, I am camped out with my family, in Central Florida. Hopefully enjoying perfect weather and fun times. We are snorkeling, biking, hiking and cooking on an open fire. Setting out under the stars each night. Fending off wildlife...ahhhh I am probably relaxed. The reason that I am posting all of the details of where I am right now? I want to stress to you, how important it is while you are all working your butts off, trying to get healthy, to also find time to relax and chill out. It is as important as the workouts.

Stress is the enemy. The big bad enemy. It does horrible things to you and your body. It messes up the way you think, the way you eat and the way you react to situations. I know this because at one point in my life, I was one stressed out cookie. Since then, I have learned to cope with stress and to rid myself of it. My biggest stress reliever is TaeKwonDo class. I get to kick things, yell, and work my fanny off at every class. Sometimes, I also dive into a book, while slathered in tanning lotion, half dressed, laying by my pool. If those two things can’t solve what might be ailing me...you may as well, tie a rope around my neck and hang me from a tree. Sorry for the graphic, I was just trying to make a point.

Sometimes, stress makes me not want to work out. I think that was my dilemma last week. I always worry about being weird. So, does stress do that to any of you? Make you want to be lazy, I mean. I will be pondering this question as I am floating through the springs of central Florida this weekend. I am looking forward to reading your replies.

Weigh Ins on this topic

actually stress makes me want to work out like you do at taekwondo--to relieve myself of the stress that truly entangles me. thank God that i go and work out rather than stay at home and take it out on my family.

i’m so thrilled to say that i’ve consistently worked out very hard but not too hard for at least 3 days per week in the last two weeks. yesterday while i was doing tae bo, my workout pants were falling off my hips!!! oh yeah!! time for new workout clothes! target? here i come!!! hahha i didn’t get to weight myself yesterday because the childcare at my gym closes at 1 and i would still be doing cardio. so i don’t know how much i weigh, but i know my waist has gone down tremendously!

Absolutely stress does that to me.  In fact, I’d take it a step further and tell you that stress makes me sleep.  I literally “sleep the day away” when I am under any kind of stress at all - hence why I haven’t been around very much lately smile So, no I don’t work out, I don’t eat right, I don’t make myself a priority - nothing.  Stress is horrible for your body, for your mind, and for your overall health!
