Energy that Even I Can Deal with Drinking
I am almost embarrassed to mention the fact that I used to be an energy drink addict. I would down probably 3 a day at least. That alone doesn’t sound so bad other than at the time, I was drinking one that had just come on the market and boasted to have the most “energy” ingredients. (Caffeine was twice that of Red Bull) I worked for that company so my supply was plenty and I felt that I was supporting what I did. Never considered that I was killing myself in the process. I just liked that “buzz”. Man was I dumb.
When we went camping a month ago, we saw an ad up at a place that we stopped for the World’s Only Free Trade, Vegan and Organic Energy beverage. ALL the words I love to see when I am trying a new anything. The hunt was on. That was a month ago - yet I didn’t give up. Finally yesterday, I found it. I bought two cans of Steaz. Looking back, I should have snagged more.
I am officially giving this stuff the royal stamp of approval. It tastes yummy. It is full of all natural ingredients and it’s all organic. The vegan claim is a bonus. Heh. Here are all the technicals:
The ingredient list is as follows...straight from the label - Sparkling filtered water, organic evaporated cane juice, sabazon organic acai juice, organic guarana extract, natural berry flavor, citric acid, Guayaki organic yerba mate extract, Organic fair trade certified Ceyion green tea, and ascorbic acid.
The label info - Per serving: calories 90 - Total Fat 0g - Sodium 35mg - Total Carbs 23g (from sugar) - protein 0g - vitamin c 60% of the US recommended daily allowance.
The label that I am reading from is off of the original berry flavored energy blend. They also have a diet version that has only 9g of sugar and only 40 calories per serving.
Now, my official review of Steaz:
The can was attractive and GREEN. Green is THE organic color of choice right? Heh. It comes in a 12 oz size by the way. I tried mine chilled. It has a very light citrus taste with enough berry flavor that the drink itself doesn’t have that grapefruity tartness to it - like Sobe does. There was no funky aftertaste. No weird surprises in the flavor at all. It was very smooth. As for the “buzz” - I didn’t know what to expect because my experience with energy drinks in the past was so over the top. This one, surprisingly, after about 15 minutes, I had the jitters. Not bad, just enough that I felt it. I also need to note that I drank this on an EMPTY stomach. I am certain that was a huge reason for the jitters. As soon as I ate something, the jittery feeling was gone. The main thing with Steaz is that I didn’t have that notorious sugar crash afterwards. I really liked that.
So, if you are going to reach for an energy drink, I suggest that you make it a Steaz.
