Vacation Recouperation
I have spent the past four days out in the fresh air. Running around and playing non stop. I attend TKD class on Monday night and I feel like someone ran off with my body. Like I have started all over again. I am not going to spend this post being a big fat whiny butt though. I have exciting stuff to say.
I have to admit, I was worried about how I would successfully keep up my good eating habits while being forced to cook over an open fire. You know, tossing a weenie on a stick just isn’t the same anymore now that I am not eating that garbage. I am here to tell you that it can be done though. I packed tons of fresh veggies. I snatched up some of my black bean burgers from the store and tossed them in the cooler. When my family was scarfing down burgers and dogs that had been flame broiled...I was scarfing down grilled veggies and black bean burgers. Oh yes. I ate like a Queenie. Even managed some sauteed mushrooms one of the nights AND had a s’more. You can’t camp without having a s’more. I didn’t kick myself in the fanny either. Just enjoyed every last bite of it and relaxed on my trip. I also noted that I looked better than the majority of chicks that were snorkeling this past weekend. Heh.
So, people, that garbage about not being able to stick to a diet while on vacation....shush your faces. I just proved that it can totally be done. You just have to plan a bit and you have to make it priority.

I’m so tired…
Hope everyone had a good weekend!! See that title of the post? Well it’s true - I’m exhausted. I had another one of my late nights with only about 3 hours of sleep, but although usually I can function well this morning I simply can’t :( I started to look for articles for information on lack of sleep and weight gain so that I can use my experience to help you all out, but I’m too tired to read. But I will say this…
If you are a woman who gets less than 5 hours of sleep at night, you are more than likely 7 pounds heavier than someone who gets a full nights sleep every night. Interesting fact huh? I knew that there was indeed a correlation to weight loss and sleep, but I wasn’t sure how much or if it was significant at all… but apparently it is! Women who get more sleep lose more weight at a faster rate. Maybe it’s because they can actually get up and use the treadmill instead of going back to sleep, or perhaps it is because they don’t eat a muffin, drive their son to school and go back to sleep, which is exactly what I’m going to do. Even still maybe it is because they aren’t so tired that they do not make dumb eating choices like eating said muffin that their mother gave them for their son to eat.
No matter how you cut it, lack of sleep sucks and it just isn’t good for you. That’s about all I can get out right now as I completely fall asleep at my keyboard - have a wonderful day!

Your weekend health tip
Right now, as you are reading this entry, I am camped out with my family, in Central Florida. Hopefully enjoying perfect weather and fun times. We are snorkeling, biking, hiking and cooking on an open fire. Setting out under the stars each night. Fending off wildlife...ahhhh I am probably relaxed. The reason that I am posting all of the details of where I am right now? I want to stress to you, how important it is while you are all working your butts off, trying to get healthy, to also find time to relax and chill out. It is as important as the workouts.
Stress is the enemy. The big bad enemy. It does horrible things to you and your body. It messes up the way you think, the way you eat and the way you react to situations. I know this because at one point in my life, I was one stressed out cookie. Since then, I have learned to cope with stress and to rid myself of it. My biggest stress reliever is TaeKwonDo class. I get to kick things, yell, and work my fanny off at every class. Sometimes, I also dive into a book, while slathered in tanning lotion, half dressed, laying by my pool. If those two things can’t solve what might be ailing me...you may as well, tie a rope around my neck and hang me from a tree. Sorry for the graphic, I was just trying to make a point.
Sometimes, stress makes me not want to work out. I think that was my dilemma last week. I always worry about being weird. So, does stress do that to any of you? Make you want to be lazy, I mean. I will be pondering this question as I am floating through the springs of central Florida this weekend. I am looking forward to reading your replies.
